Alzabo Soup is a podcast where we (Phil and Metz) do deep readings of high quality speculative fiction.  We update every week on Fridays. 


For the Month of September, we will doing a survey-style look at some of Wolfe's biggest influences as follows:

  • 9/1 - The Probable Adventure of the Three Literary MenChu-Bu and Sheemish, and The Three Sailors' Gambit by Lord Dunsany. These stories are all public domain.

  • 9/8 - The Man Who Was Thursday by G. K. Chesterton. Also public domain.

  • 9/15 - The Time Machine by H. G. Wells and With the Night Mail by Rudyard Kipling. Again, both of these novellas are public domain.

  • 9/22 - Liane the WayfarerGuyal of Sfere, and The Sorcerer Pharesm by Jack Vance (the first two stories are in The Dying Earth, while the third is a selection from The Eyes of the Overworld).

  • 9/29 - The MartianThe Long YearsThere Will Come Soft Rains, and The Million Year Picnic by Ray Bradbury (These stories can be found separately, but are all collected in The Martian Chronicles).


The Shadow of the Torturer by Gene Wolfe begins 10/6.
